Ballena National Marine Park, in Spanish Parque Nacional Marino Ballena (where ballena means whale) is a National Park of Costa Rica, part of the Osa Conservation Area The national park has an area of 5,160 hectares (12,800 acres) marine, and 171 hectares (420 acres) terrestrial. Was created by executive decree Nº 21294-MIRENEM. The park receives migrating humpback whale from December to April, when they migrate south to the warm waters and July to November, when they go north. In the terrestrial area of the park there are the beaches of Ballena beach, Uvita bay beach and Piñuela beach.
